The Access Group
The access group is the arrangement through which parties receive the office's reports on agency responses to Freedom of Information Act requests.
The Reports
Each report describes, for the offices it covers, the readiness and compliance of an agency in responding to public records requests: whether requests are acknowledged within the applicable interval, the rate at which they are fulfilled in whole or in part, the rate of denial, and the grounds cited where denial occurs. Reports are produced for agencies at the federal and state levels, and for counties and municipalities.
Who May Receive Them
Reports are furnished to private parties and to other interested parties, including government offices, on arrangement with the office. There is no public subscription facility; each arrangement is made directly, and the reports supplied are limited to the jurisdictions and periods agreed. An enquiry through the Contact page is sufficient to begin the arrangement.
Retention of the Record
All data underlying the reports is retained for historical reference and for the verification of accuracy. Superseded figures are preserved alongside current ones, so that any report issued may later be reproduced and checked against the record as it stood at the time of issue.
